Concordis Chamber Choir

Concordis Chamber Choir has firmly established itself as one of Australia’s finest choral ensembles. Since the first meeting of school leavers, Concordis has grown into a group of some 40 young men and women auditioned from across Melbourne. The choir’s repertoire is eclectic and personal; deliberately diverse to demonstrate that choirs need not limit themselves to performing in only one style of music. The music of Australian composers is an important emphasis for Concordis; they regularly commission and première new works by Australian composers and are proud of the reputation they have gained for performing new and contemporary choral music. Highlights from more than 10 years or performing include their win in the state final and second place in the national final of the ABC Choir of the Year competition, appearances on ABC TV’s Spicks & Specks and Sunday Arts, numerous broadcasts on ABC Classic and 3MBS FM and the release of their two CD recordings. Concordis have an outstanding record at choral festivals and competitions and are the current Australian National Eisteddfod Open age choral champions.

Following todays announcement regarding COVID-19 restrictions, we regretfully announce that our performances of Illumina this weekend have been postponed. We are heartbroken as this was to be our first concert in over 18 months, and our Gaol performance was sold out! 🎶🖤😢

We are working as quickly as possible to secure new dates, and will contact ticket holders as soon as we can to make arrangements.

In the meantime, please stay safe and thank you for your understanding. ✨

Concordis are working on some pretty special pieces in the lead up to our concerts including this interpretation of Come Sweet Death by JS Bach.

There is a meditative approach in the final verse - an allegorical metaphor signaling how life and death are different for everyone.

Caledonia is a beautiful love song for home - wherever or whatever that may mean for you. It speaks particularly to the life of an ex-pat, that idea of being home while still missing home. A love song for the places we long to be, the places we have left behind, the places that will always hold a place in our hearts.
