Concordis Chamber Choir
Concordis Chamber Choir has firmly established itself as one of Australia’s finest choral ensembles. Since the first meeting of school leavers, Concordis has grown into a group of some 40 young men and women auditioned from across Melbourne. The choir’s repertoire is eclectic and personal; deliberately diverse to demonstrate that choirs need not limit themselves to performing in only one style of music. The music of Australian composers is an important emphasis for Concordis; they regularly commission and première new works by Australian composers and are proud of the reputation they have gained for performing new and contemporary choral music.
Highlights from more than 10 years or performing include their win in the state final and second place in the national final of the ABC Choir of the Year competition, appearances on ABC TV’s Spicks & Specks and Sunday Arts, numerous broadcasts on ABC Classic and 3MBS FM and the release of their two CD recordings. Concordis have an outstanding record at choral festivals and competitions and are the current Australian National Eisteddfod Open age choral champions.
